Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Video Fact Checker provides video analysis services through our website at video-fact-checker.openstream.ch. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Video Information

  • Video URLs that you submit for analysis (e.g. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter, and other supported platforms)
  • The audio transcription generated from the submitted video
  • Fact-check analysis results of the video content

2.2 Technical Information

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • IP address
  • Date and time of access
  • Pages visited on our website

3. How the Service Works

When you submit a video URL, our service:

  • Downloads the video’s audio track from the source platform. For YouTube, this request is routed through a third-party proxy service.
  • Transcribes the audio into text using OpenAI’s speech-to-text service.
  • Analyzes the transcript for factual accuracy using OpenAI’s language models.

We access publicly available videos only, and we access them in accordance with the terms of service of the respective platforms.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide our service, we rely on the following third-party processors, to whom the video audio and/or transcript is transmitted for processing:

  • OpenAI — audio transcription and fact-check analysis (see the OpenAI Privacy Policy).
  • Proxy provider — used to download YouTube videos on our behalf.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide video fact-checking services
  • Analyze video content for accuracy
  • Improve our services
  • Maintain service security
  • Generate anonymous usage statistics

6. Data Retention

  • Video transcriptions and fact-check results are cached to speed up repeat requests for the same video.
  • The downloaded audio file is deleted immediately after transcription.
  • Technical logs are retained on a rolling basis for diagnostics and are rotated regularly.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party processors described in Section 4, and otherwise only:

  • When required by law
  • To protect our rights
  • With your explicit consent
